Golkar cadres in cabinet expected to retain posts

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Ministers who came from the Golkar Party are unlikely to be affected if President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reshuffles his cabinet, Golkar associate chairman Priyo Budi Santoso said here on Friday.

“So far, ministers who came from the Golkar Party have performed well and met the standards made by President Yudhoyono. We hope they are not replaced,” he said.

He said that Golkar had three ministers in the United Indonesia cabinet, namely Agung Laksono as coordinating minister for people`s welfare, Fadel Muhammad as maritime affairs and fisheries minister and MS Hidayat as industry minister.

They are not included as one of the ministers who are under performing based on the report of the Presidential Work Unit for Development Control and Supervision (UKP4).

“We are thankful as the three Golkar ministers are not included in the UKP4 report,” Priyo, who is also a deputy House Speaker, said.

However, if the reshuffle affected its minister, Golkar will not regret the president`s decision. We will sincerely accept it, he said.

“We will not regret it because the matter is the president`s prerogative. We will accept it sincerely as reshuffle should not be something scary,” Priyo said.

With regard to reshuffle, Golkar would not interfere and would not insist on proposing a name to be appointed as a minister.

“Of course if there would be a reshuffle, Golkar`s general chairman will surely be informed. But so far, there is no talk about that,” he said.
